Donna Duke
2007 has been an eventful year. I began writing Act III in January and enjoyed the privilege of interviewing some very interesting people. Thank you to all the readers who have supported me by reading my monthly column. I have loved hearing from you. The Water Street Senior Centre offered lessons in clogging, which got me out of my computer chair once a week. I connected with the Dragon Boat team and continued to co-instruct in the computer lab as time permitted. I joined the Central Okanagan Photography Society (COPS) which has enabled me to improve my skill with a digital camera. I participated in writers' groups through the Society for Learning in Retirement and made several friends there. As well, I accepted a position on their Board of Directors. In September I began a creative writing course as well as a drawing course at the UBC Okanagan campus, fulfilling a life long dream to attend university. The CBC contacted me to ask if I had any ideas on how Kelowna could improve on what it has to offer senior citizens. I must admit I was stumped! All I could come up with was what a wonderful place Kelowna is and named all the programs and facilities that are available to seniors. I think it is absolutely the best place to live. I welcome your emails - so keep them coming. As the snow falls on this December day and we begin to prepare for the holiday season may I wish you and yours a most joyous and healthful season.
