Our accompanying story on golf led us to a younger senior who should be an inspiration to anyone who says they are too old to learn anything. This retired teacher has placed himself on a very ambitious learning curve since his retirement just a few years ago. It is a change of life-style and the pursuit of happiness through participation in life-style adjustments, fitness activities and sports.
Taking the lead from wife Bobbi, young Frank Krause has undertaken a fitness regimen that would tax the abilities of much younger men. Having involved himself in the not un-daunting task of learning to skate and play hockey at his tender age of 62, Frank spent the past season in an intensive swim programme to improve his cardio vascular uptake and muscular strength. He is now involved in a walk/run programme that he intends to use to propel himself into a mini-marathon in Kelowna this summer. Immediately after that he intends to participate in the Summerland Adult Hockey School (for the second time) in August that will prepare him for the fall senior hockey season and participation in an active round of senior hockey tournaments.
