Bert Troyer PDF Print E-mail

Not surprisingly this month's sports personality comes from our featured sport of Curling and coincidentally happens to spotlight an elderly lad who hails from Grand Prairie Alberta.

Bert Troyer started curling as a 15 year old student mentored by his part time service station boss Alec Dalgleish, who taught him everything there was to know about curling at the time. Bert is now 78 years young and makes the Penticton Curling Club his home rink. Curling an average of five times a week when home the number of games increases when he travels to competitive bonspiels.

His rink won the Zone play downs three times; Legion Zone six times; Provincial play downs once; and a whole lot of other contests where he was runner up or champion. Keep it up Bert; it is so good to see seniors remaining competitive in an active sport for active seniors.
