The subject of Pole Walking places focus on an energetic and enthusiastic proponent of all manner of fitness walking. The slightly built seventy-two year Gisela Kibblewhite of Peachland bought her first set of walking poles in Austria ten years ago and has been a keen pole walker ever since.

Gisela has accumulated 32000 official walking kilometres through some of the most picturesque scenery of the world. If Gisela has her way we know that she will be doing her best to get to and through many more international hiking areas. Gisela who has always enjoyed the active lifestyle of walking and hiking inherited her passion from her German parents. Pole Walking and Volkssporting now provide her the outlet for the physical activity she needs.

In addition to providing her much needed presence to the Peachland Volkssport Club Gisela can be found at the Westbank Pool swimming and taking part in aquasize. We found Gisela accompanied by friend and fellow Pole Walker Arne Roosen planning, plotting and hiking for two new ten km trails in the Summerland area. The first trail will be set from/to Peach Orchard Park near the waterfront and the other from/to the area of the Rosedale Ave 7/11 around Giant's Head Mountain.
