Henry Paynter PDF Print E-mail

At 97 years he was the eldest of all the athletes participating in the Penticton Seniors Games and he is one of the Okanagan Valley's own. Not only an active senior sports participant he is an active farmer and orchardist as well. We speak of none other than Henry Paynter of The Paynter Farm and Orchards in Westbank. Active in community activities and the sports scene for the past 75 years in Westbank and the surrounding area Henry remains a competitor and member of the Kelowna Badminton Club. In fact, Henry is tabled in the Guinness Book of World Records as the eldest competing Badminton player in the world. He will probably be recognized once more having just won the Gold Medal for the mixed doubles in the 80 and over category at the 2004 Seniors' Games.

Ably supported by wife Sheila those that know Henry indicate that he is simply remarkable if not awesome. They aspire to emulate, not only his skill and dedication to the sport of Badminton, but also to his longevity.

Carry on Henry. We salute your stamina, your ability, and your dedication as an active senior participating in an active sport.
