In this part of the Sports Column, we usually highlight one individual each month and recognize them for their continuing efforts to remain fit through regular physical activity. This month we once again step out of the regular mould by recognizing a particular group of active seniors that deserve special recognition. This ‘Group of Seven’’, octogenarians are still playing hockey on a regular basis at their home rinks and travel extensively to participate in tournaments around the province. Most notably, they were part of two teams that played in the Classic VII hockey tournament in Parksville the week after Labour Day. Most of them, along with others will be participating in the Vernon Tournament 1 to 4 Oct. A big round of applause please! These men are truly sterling examples of active seniors participating in active sports! Bon Chance! Gentlemen!
