The Volunteer Group - Men’s Provincial Curling Championships Penticton

Our sports story this month allows us to highlight another group of diehard sports enthusiasts. Their love of our alternate national game and their support of curling in all forms deserve special attention and recognition. These curling stalwarts gave freely of their time, knowledge and expertise to ensure a well-organized, well-conducted, flawless championship. It is a tribute to their efforts, their helpful willingness and their smooth coordination that the games were played with nary a hitch. Penticton is particularly fortunate to have such an active population that is prepared to place personal requirements in the background for a short period of time to help the City live up to its billing as “Okanagan’s Friendly City”! These curling volunteers began their task with one thought in mind – ‘Let’s make the Penticton venue the best Provincial Championships yet”! Well, the jury is still out on that, but from all accounts it very well might have been. The efforts put forth by the volunteers in support of the Provincial Men’s Championship deserve special kudos. Congratulations to this fantastic group of volunteers. Through their efforts they have set a sterling example of good citizenship and sportsmanship by providing the much-needed organizational and administrative support while encouraging active participation in the sport of curling.
