Senior Sports Personality of the Month

Ken Haywood is 89+ years old and still going strong. Ken is an active, travelling senior, loves to sing and dance, and is a favourite of the ladies.

He plays hockey three mornings each week in season and attempts to get to every Seniors Hockey Tournament that runs in the province. The hips have worn out, so one has been replaced. Ken is recuperating and intends to meet the boys on the ice at the Oliver, Wine Capital of Canada 2nd Annual Seniors Hockey Tournament in March 2005.

Everyone connected to BC Seniors Hockey has meet Ken and is immediately struck by his infectious smile, easygoing style and good-humoured bonhomie. Ken played with the NHL Legends of Hockey two years ago in Kelowna when that gang was led by ex Toronto Maple Leaf Star Daryl Sittler. Ken was well received by the ex-NHLers who got Ken into a goal scoring position where he drove one past the Keeper.

Well Done Ken. You are an inspiration to all seniors who wish to remain active in physically challenging sport. Keep your stick on the ice!
