- most insurance companies offer premium discounts to seniors - some are available from age 55 and up - can range from 10% to 30% - make your broker aware of your age - many insurance companies offer new home discounts and/or claims free discounts - condominium owners require special coverage - ask your broker for methods to prepare a proper inventory for all your belongings - value them with today’s higher replacement - many seniors supplement income these days with “home businesses”, such as turning a hobby into an income producing activity - advise your Broker of any such activities as this could VOID part or all of your insurance protection - there may be exposures which require additional coverage - consider many of the optional coverage available such as: - guaranteed replacement cost on your home - replacement cost on contents - personal articles floater, for such things as jewelry or furs - earthquake coverage
