Veteran's Specialty License Plates

An Article regarding Veteran Specialty Plates for your car was published in our local papers last month but very few Vets made application to obtained them.

A casual survey over a two week period showed that very few Vets had read the published article and knew nothing about these colorful Veteran Plates of BC or why they were issued free of charge to Vets.

To obtain your plates, a Veteran must have served in W.W.2, the Korean War or the Gulf War as a member of the Canadian Forces, the Allied Force, Canadian or Allied Merchant Navy or the Ferry Command and has been honorably discharged.

(a) To apply, the Veteran must obtain a proper Veteran Plate Eligibility Form.
(b) He must attach a photocopy of his Canadian Forces discharge Certificate, Certificate of Service or a Pay Book copy.

For the RCMP he must supply a copy stating his Service in a United Nations or NATO Operation in a letter from his RCMP Detachment Commanding Officer.

The Veteran then submits the completed forms with a $5.00 cheque or money order to one of the following addresses:
B.C. Veterans Commemorative Assoc. at 106-96 E. Broadway, Vancouver V5T 4N9, or to the

Canadian Peacekeeping Veterans Assoc., Box 48197, Victoria BC V8Z 7H6.

The Authorizing Service will mail the approved application back to the Veteran within 3 weeks. The Vet will then take the approved application to ICBC who will issue the plates at no further charge.

For further information you can phone 604-876-2838, or 250-391-1568 or if you have a computer you can email: www.icbc.com

We hope eligible veterans will make applications for this very attractive plate for your car. It is one way our Province honours the Veterans of our wars.
